I considered fulfilling this little fantasy of mine. Allowing myself for a moment just to play along and get lost in the likes of Kale. Instead, I smacked the side of my face. “Wake up, Libby.”

    He shut the door and dialed the number on the officer’s business card. It went to voice mail and he left a brief message, hanging up the phone just a Rina came through the door.
    “What the hell!”
    “I’ve called the cops.”
    “Good, what did he say?”
    “Voice mail.”
    “Figures. So now what?”

    Here’s my snippet from my work-in-progress, Awakenings, currently in edits at Decadent Publishing.

    He’d been disappointed when he and Nathan had returned to Hannah’s floor and Sue informed him Ali had left.
    Cole hoped he could have taken her out for a late dinner, they could talk and hopefully good things would proceed from there. Perhaps a night in each other’s arms.
    To know Ali waited for him made Cole anxious, but also uncertain. Her note, while vague, made him wonder what was on her mind. He reached over into the passenger seat, picked up the note she’d left for him, laid his hands on top of the steering wheel. An eye on the road in front of him, he lowered his gaze to the note again quickly.
