Happy Friday! Snippet of CLAIMED!

I've had a busy week of writing BARED - Club Sin #2. I've got about six chapters behind me, and this story is pouring out of me like nobody's business! YAH!! Let’s kick off the weekend with a snippet from CLAIMED (unedited). This is what happens when you introduce a Club Sin Master to a douchebag of an ex-boyfriend! “Dmitri, I’d like to introduce you to Steven.” Dmitri’s eyes narrowed on her, a fire burned within their depths, and he oh-so-leisurely looked at Steven. “Introduce me, huh?” “Hey, man,” Steven replied in a light voice. Dmitri, as always, remained calm. However, behind his coolness was well-restrained rage. Presley sank down into her chair, and in the same voice that rolled with tension, he asked, “Do you have something to say to him, love?” Presley gaped at him, unable to do anything else. She had no idea that Dmitri held this type of hatred for Steven, and she wondered why he did. After fast seconds of thought, she came up empty. She’d barely talked about her past relationship, and she needed this moment to end, so she turned to Steven. “It’s nice to see you again, but we’re having dinner, so—” “No.” Presley clamped her lips shut, and she jerked her head to Dmitri, who continued his stern look. “That is not what you say to him. I’ll show you.” To Steven, his voice became oh-so-deadly, his expression equally tight. “You don’t have the right to talk to her. That privilege was lost when you fucked another woman and broke her heart. Get lost.”

Claimed Snippet – COMING AUGUST 5th

Today we leave for our first camping trip of the year—yah for s’mores!! I’ll be away until Monday, so here’s a snippet from CLAIMED to kick off your weekend! (unedited) In this scene, Presley left her Dom’s bed during the middle of night, and Dmitri has a few things to say about that. *gulp* His chin dipped, eyes coming in direct line with hers. “Explain why you took your warm body from my bed.” The distance between them seemed to have evaporated, and her awareness of his closeness swept across her so fast that her breath caught. Funny things happened low in her belly. Strange things, considering she shouldn’t be aroused now. “I . . .” She hesitated, wondering how honest to be with him. She’d already been way too truthful, exactly what had landed her in this totally uncomfortable position. But his stern look told her to hurry the heck up and be honest about it, so on a quick breath, she said, “I thought you’d be relieved.” His head tilted in his examining way, normally sexy. Now it only made her feel cornered. “Do I look relieved?” She nibbled her lip, trying her best not to flinch away from the power he clearly had kept restrained. “No.” “Smart answer.”

Friends, I’ll be quiet for the rest of the week to meet my deadline. So, as a little treat while I'm gone, here’s a snippet from CLAIMED. (unedited) Presley is meeting Master Dmitri for the first time to discuss membership at the exclusive CLUB SIN. She's just shared with him that when her ex-boyfriend attempted some light BDSM with her it didn't go over so well. “When I commanded you to kneel, how did you feel?” He deepened his voice, since he’d seen her heated reaction to his baritone. “Did you think I was silly?” The twinkle he spotted faded to something naughtier, something he enjoyed increasing in those eyes. “No.” “Did it turn you on?” He caressed the side of her neck, and his abdomen tightened at how her pupils dilated further, almost shedding the green. “If I touched you intimately now, would I find you’re wet?” A blush crept over her chest, carrying all the way up into her face. “Yes.” “I like you that way, Presley.”

BET ON ECSTASY (Pact of Seduction #3) receives a release date…

Great news, my friends! BET ON ECSTASY has received a tentative release date of September 24, 2013! Now this is subject to change, but hopefully it won't. =) I know this book is a long time coming and thank you all for your patience. It's definitely my favourite of the series so far. Kyra and her two men know how to turn up the heat, and it did have me asking why I don't write more ménage stories! Wowzers!!

BET ON ECSTASY

Pact of Seduction #3

(Loose Id, September 24, 2013)

Business partners, Smith and Brock share their fortune, success, and they share their women. A healthy competitive streak built MDR Software into a multi-million-dollar enterprise, and their on-going bets continuously raise the stakes. The current proposition: an arranged ménage encounter through the sex club, Castle Dolce Vita. The prize: a sexy kitten, Kyra.

While the two wealthy, powerful men are enough to pique Kyra’s interests to fulfill the Pact of Seduction and live out her ultimate fantasy, a bet forged between the men comes with an intriguing promise. Her pleasure is now part of their wager.

Soon, Kyra fights against her desire for the men as she struggles through the complications of a ménage relationship. Of course, the men take their bets seriously and are determined to show Kyra that in this game of seduction no one loses.

Reviews & Ratings…and putting it into perspective! My thoughts…

Hi, friends! I did promise I’d try to blog more, so here I am...blogging more.  🙂 Today, I’m putting things into perspective about reviews and ratings. When I was first published I was told, repeatedly, not to read reviews. Of course, I never listened to that because well, I just had to know. Then I learned my lesson, since I couldn’t stop thinking about what the reviewer had said. Yes, I know they tell you not to take it to heart, but come on, anyone with a heart is going to be affected when someone talks negatively about a book they poured their soul into. Sure, some authors have thick skin and can read things people hated about their books and brush it off. Me, not so much. It got right into my head and ruined my day. I even noticed that it affected my writing. Too much negativity is just not good for any person, and doubt starts to stick its ugly head up. Now I’m not saying I never read reviews, because I do when a book is first released. I tend to read reviews from book bloggers who I know are gentle in the way they explain if they didn’t like something. I like to hear opinions, and even sometimes take something away from it. Reading reviews can help when I’m writing the next book in a series—as it lets me know if I need to clarify something better, or so on and so on. Though the moment I read a bad review, I shut down my computer and avoid Goodreads. Not everyone is gentle, and I surely don’t want to read someone trashing my book. Of course, everyone is intilted to write whatever they like and loathe a book, but I just don't want to read about it. Sorry, no thank you! So, that’s kind of how things went for a while. Then just recently, I noticed something on Goodreads that put it all into perspective. Some authors (me included), can get hung up on stars and ratings. Maybe it's a need or something, but we wanna be loved! I think we can get wrapped up in saying, why only three stars? Why not 4 stars? Why not 5 stars? Why 1 star—oh god, why?! Those damn freaking stars... Thankfully, Goodreads has this little thing that made me wake up one day and realize how silly it all was. I’ve taken a screen shot, so you’d know exactly what I’m talking about. Just below all the ratings, one day I noticed the part where it says, 90% of people liked it. To say this was an eye opening experience is an understatement.

When I saw this on Goodreads, it made me look at the whole thing differently. Really, what do stars matter? 90% of people who read my story enjoyed it. Does it matter that they’d want some things done differently or hated certain parts, nope! Or even that they didn’t get my characters how I intended for them to be seen? Certainly not. We all have opinions and want things done a certain way, but good ol’ Goodreads is what put it all in perspective for me. To Goodreads, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for adding in that little line. 90% of people liked it. Yep, that’s total smile worthy stuff! =) So, my advice to new authors wouldn’t be, “don’t read reviews”, it would be “go on Goodreads and look at that little line.” Then feel damn tooting proud of yourself that you wrote a book people enjoyed!

As the control washed over her, she wanted to respond, but she found herself too annoyed things weren’t going according to plan. While she’d expected him to ask her questions to find out what he was in store for, she didn’t expect anything of this magnitude. Angry, she returned his glare. He smirked. The reaction caused her insides to turn to jelly, her vitriolic thoughts vanishing on the chilly night air. Why did he have to be so goddamned handsome and annoying at the same time? “I suggest you listen if you want me to consider taking you on as I don’t like repeating myself. To. Your. Knees.” She opened her mouth to protest and he tilted his head down just enough to give her another message. A very stern one she couldn’t help but listen to. He would not be ignored. She dropped her hands to her sides and slowly lowered to her knees. The rough rocks immediately bit into her shins, but she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of showing him she was in pain. She heard the unmistakable sound of buttons popping on his jeans and looked up just in time to see him part the denim. What in the Sam hell did he intend to do? If he expected her to suck his dick right here and now, he’d better think again. “Eyes down.” The authority behind those two words coursed through her, compelling her to obey. It had been a long time since she’d had this kind of reaction. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she complied. The denim pooled around his ankles and she found herself staring at the pile. Just as she started to wonder if Elena had been out of her mind to recommend this man, his hand slid against the top of her head. His touch was almost calming and, despite her annoyance, a feeling of tranquility washed over her. His fingers combed her hair, catching the elastic holder from her ponytail, pulling it free. He continued to run his fingers through the strands, fanning out her hair. She relaxed under his persistent touch. The pain in her legs melted away and she gave a soft sigh as her body started to quietly buzz. Yes. The crunch of rocks jolted her back to the moment. She listened to him move away, leaving her alone on the rock path in front of his house. What in the hell? Beth looked to the left and her eyes widened in surprise as she spotted him. He strolled toward the small lake at the front corner of the field, towel swinging in his hand as he walked. Those jeans of his were at her feet and she now had an unobstructed view of his bare ass. A very firm, very tan, perfectly formed ass. Christ on a slinky going down an up escalator if he doesn’t look even better out of those jeans. Transfixed by the bunch and pull of the muscles in his thighs and butt as he walked over the uneven ground, she forgot her place and openly gawked. When he reached the bank at the water’s edge, he dropped the towel and walked right into the lake. She expected him to dive under the surface, but instead he slowly moved until the water lapped as his hips. He sunk as if he were a knife cutting through the water, disappearing with no more than a quiet ripple disturbing the surface. The lake smoothed in seconds. The only indication she ever had company were those damn jeans on the ground in front of her. WITCHES BE DAZZLED…and what surprised me!

Hi, friends! I know I’m not too vocal on my blog—it’s terrible. I’m trying to do better, promise. So, I just had the share this new development that was a big surprise to me. As many of you know, and for those that don’t, the Magic & Mayhem series was first published as short novels and were told in the first person. Yep, we only got Nexi’s point-of-view. When Entangled picked up the books to republish them as full-length novels, one suggestion made by my awesome editor was that I change the books to third person. There were lots of reasons for the change, but mainly because with these books it just made the story deeper. I totally agreed and thought the change was a great one, but I never anticipated how much of a good change it was until I started working on Witches Be Dazzled. You see, when I first wrote The Wicked, which was the second book in the series, I always knew something was “missing” from the story line. It wasn’t my favourite book in that series. At the time and sometimes as authors we are too close to our stories to figure out what it needs, therefore, I just accepted the story for what it is and went with it. Well, it wasn’t until I dug in and started changing the story to third person did I see what was missing—Kyden’s point of view. For everyone who read Werewolves Be Damned, you’ll know that it was very Nexi focused. That book was basically her story and Kyden was there, fighting alongside her to help her gain her footing in the crazy-ass world she landed herself in. But Witches Be Dazzled has turned out to be a lot about Kyden and his past. It’s funny to me that I always knew something was missing. That I needed “something” to make the story complete, but it just took an editor to change the first book for me to see it. Though the plot was all there and I did like the story, Kyden’s history needed to be added to make the book complete. I cannot even begin to say how excited I am about this story. Anyone who has followed me from the beginning knows that these books are my babies. Nexi and Kyden’s stories started my writing journey. If it wasn’t for Nexi who just popped into my head one day, I never would have started writing. While I have a new editor working on the series now, the advice I received from Kerri-Leigh Grady is something that I will never forget and will always be grateful to her for! Much love to her! All right, I’m off to spend more time with a very sexy guardian!
